Galko

Galko Rules

Galko is a poker-style card game that uses TTRPG dice and can be used in-game as a replacement for real cards. It involves several rounds where players roll increasingly smaller dice to create an array which can beat or bluff the arrays of other players while betting.

Setup
At the beginning of the game, roll a D20 to determine the turn order for the game.

Game Rounds
Galko consists of 3 rounds. In each round, players roll a different-sized die: 1d8 in the first round, 1d6 in the second round, and 1d4 in the final round.

Bidding Phase
At the end of each round, the leading player starts the bidding phase. Each player, starting with the lead player, can either "see" the current bid or "raise" it. The bidding goes around the table until all players have seen the current bid or have folded. Players who fold withdraw from the round and cannot win the current pot.

Hand Arrays
After the final round of bidding, players reveal their hands, and the highest array wins the pot.

The arrays, ranked from lowest to highest, are as follows:

0) Idiots Array (Triple 1s results in you withdrawing whatever you put into the pot)

1) Basic Array (1-9)

2) Even Array (All even numbers)

3) Double Array (Two of the same number)

4) Triple Array (Three of the same number)

5) Full Array (10-18)

6) Lucky Array (Exactly 13 trumps all)

Proficiency
If you are proficient in card games, then once per game, you may re-roll one die, but only the die you rolled that turn.

Cheating:
In Galko, there are two main ways of cheating:

1. Drawing double: This involves rolling two dice and picking the more desirable one. The difficulty of this action depends on the dice size and the alertness of other players and is up to the DM.

2. Blind Wool: This cheat involves having a deck of identical cards at hand. Players can attempt to swap one or more of their results with a number of their choosing. However, this action has very low odds of success.
